Certified translations and Hague Apostille

How does Certified Translation work?
In Portugal, to authenticate a translation, it must be certified by a notary, solicitor or lawyer. This process results in a document composed of three inseparable elements:
- The Declaration of Authentication, signed by the translator and the certifying entity.
- The original document, or certified copy.
- The Translation, duly signed by the translator and certifying entity.
Hague Apostille
If your document is intended for a foreign country that is part of the Hague Convention, the translation may require an Apostille. This certification, issued by the competent authorities, validates the signature and seal of the entity that authenticated the document, allowing it to be accepted internationally without the need for further legalisation.
